GAN is already preparing summer with many new features in its Garden Layers outdoor collection

Outdoor furniture and accessories firms are already thinking about summer. That is the case of GAN and its first outdoor collection… First they were carpets, cushions and mats that could be combined with each other. Now GARDEN LAYERS It grows with two new elements that help to extend the comfort and functionality of the collection: beds and side tables.

GARDEN LAYERS was born inspired by the ancient custom of the Mughal Indians of lying on carpets and cushions in its gardens and terraces, inherited in turn from the Persian culture. Patricia Urquiola He wanted to take this rich oriental legacy to the ground of the contemporary, creating a totally innovative space that invites to rest outdoors, and using state-of-the-art materials and updated aesthetic codes.

The collection was made in its day with the prestigious NYCxDESIGN award in the outdoor space category, and now continues to grow. Two additional elements extend GARDEN LAYERS to create an even more comfortable and practical space: an Indian bed and a side table that you can see in the photos of this article. The bed, which is available in single or double option, complements existing carpets, mats and cushions. The side tables improve the functionality of the collection and create multipurpose surfaces.

The beds have a thermo-lacquered aluminum frame and are available in three color combinations: terracotta frame with Gofre terracotta or Tartan terracotta cover, gray frame with Gofre blue or Tartan blue cover, and green frame with Gofre green or Tartan green cover. The tables, also made of thermo-lacquered aluminum, are available in Terracotta, Gray and Green.

This is an adventure that began with the desire of GAN and Urquiola to move the designs abroad of the carpets of GAN. The objective is to make the outdoor a warm, comfortable and quality space, which facilitates the same tranquility that we can find in the gathering of an interior space. Comfort in our physical relationship with the object, and calm in terms of practicality: if before we could have at home some cushions that we took outside to then store them again and take them out again, now we have a collection specially designed to live outdoors .

Patricia Urquiola is inspired by the fabrics, colors and artisanal techniques of Mughal but adds innovative materials that improve strength and comfort. Garden Layers is the beginning of a journey that drinks from the East and the West, of craftsmanship and technological innovation, to find the best solution. Now a new family of beds and small tables has been added to the initial collection, but who knows what the next step will be ... For now we are satisfied that the good weather is here to be able to release the new beds and tables.

Play scrabble with your cushions

Scrabble is considered a board game, but with the cushions that I am going to show you, you will play it anywhere, from bed to sofa, through the office. They are cushions, with covers that emulate the chips of this mythical game, with its lyrics and its score. They were designed by Stephen Reed, in collaboration with Alistair Willmott, for the London offices of the Bloomberg news agency.
